I have two and both gets so hot you can’t touch the mirror and can feel the heat coming off the glass! It gets so hot one of my Mirrors has now shattered. Zig zag pattern brake all over. It’s connected to light switch but heats within minutes.

Hi there , the mirror demister panels heat is regulated. Different factors in which can cause it to shatter or to get to hot are :

-Metallic backed mirror
-Not having the minimum 40mm gap from the edge of the mirror to the panel
-If the mirror has been screwed or altered after manufacture causing hairline cracks

The heat from the mirror demister panel itself is not enough to cause it to shatter.
